A profession like acting, calls for schools/colleges that are able to deliver the absolute best. Schools that will teach them to emote, to dance, to be able adapt to any language and everything else that is the pre-requisite to completely transforming oneself. Schools that will teach its students not to recite lines but to become a malleable mindset, that can assimilate and reflect an entirely different character.

1. The Juilliard School, New York City
Julliard’s has given Hollywood some of its best performers – Robin Williams, Kevin Spacey, Christopher Reeve, Kelsey Grammar and many more. All of whom have created a niche that is entirely their own in Hollywood as well as in the hearts of their audiences, across the globe. It has in unmatched reputation in manufacturing graduates who are skilled in all the aspects of their chosen art form.

2. Yale School of Drama, Connecticut
Meryl Streep, Paul Newman and Angela Bassett have all been students of this prestigious institution. Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theatre in known to churn out graduates who are able act in front of the camera with as much finesse as they can emote on a stage in front of a live audience. Many of those who today, walk away with awards for their work, at various star studded award functions happen to the illustrious alumni of this acting college.

3. Tisch School of the Arts, New York City
The study programs offered by Tisch School of Arts are held in very high esteem and recognised in every film industry. The focus of both the students and the faculty is said to be unwavering in running the course that they have committed themselves to.  Alec Baldwin, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Adam Sandler and Lady Gaga went to Tisch.

4. Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh
Ted Danson who has won 3 Golden Globe awards, one Screen Actors Guild Awards, one American Comedy Award and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, once said, that the Carnegie Mellon University helped him set the tone of his life. He emphatically proclaimed that he owed everything to his alma mater which taught him to love everything about his craft. Those who learn their craft here, have gone on to win 6 Oscars, 24 Tonys and 95 Emmys. That in itself speaks volumes for this school of acting.

5. London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, London
Samantha from Sex and the City – Kim Cattrall was a student of LAMD. Some others who learnt their trade here are Benedict Cumberbatch, Donald Sutherland and Chris O’Dowd. The institution was primarily started to impart training to students and examine their proficiency in various musical disciplines. Over the years the college has added in the teaching of various other art forms to their curriculum.
